Iron Pot Bay Wines, Tasmania

IRON POT BAY vineyard was established in 1988 by Roderick Cuthbert and Kyra Hinman, and is situated in the picturesque Tamar Valley region of Tasmania about 24 nautical miles downstream from Launceston.

A low altitude area ideally suited to wine production, it has a cool climate, mild and extended growing seasons. The nearby Tamar River exerts a moderating influence on the climate.

Five hectares of vines grow on a modified lyre trellis system which is difficult to manage but produces prolific fruit.

The vineyard climate measures approximately 1150 degree days. The soil is loam over clay and the vineyard is irrigated by drip line.
